All the lots in St. Bonaventure Cemetery are sold in accordance with the provisions of the laws of the State of New York and shall not be used for any other purposes than as a burial place for dead human beings.
No interment shall be allowed without permission being obtained from the St. Bonaventure Association. At the time of applying for permission, the following information must be furnished.
1. Name of deceased.
2. Age of deceased – including date of birth, if known.
3. Place of birth of deceased, if known.
4. Date of death.
5. Time and date of interment.
6. If not an adult – the names of parents or legal guardian(s) of deceased.
Lot owners are prohibited from allowing interments to be made on their lots for compensation.
Interments in a lot are restricted to those entitled to burial therein according to the terms of Section 1512 of the Not – for Profit Corporation Law. Permission for burial of those not entitled to burial according to said Section, must be filed with the St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association by the lot owner(s).
Except as provided in Section 1513 (c) of the Not-for- Profit Corporation Law, no lot owner may transfer his or her lot.
The full purchase price must be paid before a deed will be given or a burial allowed or foundation or monument installed.
The St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association reserves the right to remove all flowers, wreaths, or other decorations from lots as soon as they become unsightly.
The St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association reserves the right to remove, after due notice to the lot owner, any embellishments on the lot, effigy or inscription which in the opinion of the majority of the trustees or directors is unsightly or dangerous.
The St. Bonaventure Cemetery Association reserves the right to restrict the planting of shrubs or trees and to remove any shrub or tree deemed dangerous to the public, upon due notice to the lot owner. However trees may be donated to the cemetery and planted by cemetery staff in such location as approved by the cemetery.
All funerals, processions and vehicles will be under the control of the superintendent while in the cemetery.
No monuments or markers shall be permitted which utilize colors other than those of natural stone.
All foundations will be constructed by or under the direction of the St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
All work done in the cemetery shall be done by cemetery employees or under the control or with the permission of the superintendent or board of directors.
No monument or marker will be permitted until lot is paid for in full.
One above ground monument is permitted per lot.
The above ground marker will be centered on the lot.
Individual flush markers will be centered on each grave.
All monuments and markers will be granite or bronze.
Foundation orders received by May 1 will be placed for Memorial Day weather permitting.
The maximum size of a monument will not exceed sixty percent of the width of the lot. Every monument or marker shall be at least four inches thick.
No monument will be allowed to be delivered in the cemetery until the foundation is installed and ready to receive the monument.
The cemetery is not responsible for inscription errors on monuments or markers.
The bases of all monuments shall be finished true and level so as to fit on foundations without wedging or sprawls.
No vault or mausoleum shall be built without the permission of the Board of Directors and then only in such location as they may approve.
No mausoleum will be approved for construction by the Board of Directors unless a sufficient endowment is set up to provide adequate income to maintain the structure.
Concrete or aluminum grave markers are used to locate graves and must be left in the ground.
Concrete vaults or concrete liners are required for interments in all graves.
All lot owners are required to notify the cemetery of any changes of address. All notices required shall be sent to the last recorded address and such notice shall be deemed adequate.
Interments on Sundays and Holidays will be governed by Cemetery Board Directives 201.8 and 201.12
The interment of cremated remains must be placed in a polystyrene or concrete vault.
No more than two cremations can be buried in a single grave.
The Right of Second Burial permits burial of one cremation in the same grave with a traditional vaulted burial. (See Schedule of Fees for current price.)
When one cremation is interred with a full body at the same time, the Right of Second Burial applies.
When two cremations are placed in the same urn and buried at the same time, the Right of Second Burial applies.
Graves or monuments may not be outlined with fences, metal or plastic edging, brick or stone. These items are destructive to mowers and can cause injury to people.
Annual plants are permitted to be planted in front of an upright monument. Plantings may not exceed the length of the monument and in front of the monument, extend no further than 12 inches.
Planting behind a monument is not allowed unless the graves in back of the monument are part of this lot.
All flags are removed after July 4th of each year.
Please obey the 15 mile speed limit and park on the right side of the road on the paved surface, please keep vehicles off the lawn.
Marble or stone chips are not allowed.
All forms of glass ornaments, bottles and vases are prohibited.
The period from March 15 to May 1 is traditionally used by the cemetery to clean up the grounds and prepare the cemetery for spring. All fall and winter decorations are removed as soon after March 15 as weather permits.
Funeral Flowers are removed on the day of interment whenever possible. Should members of the family wish to preserve any of them, they should do so immediately after the interment service.
No pets are permitted at any time.
Disinterments will be allowed between 8am and 11am, Monday thru Friday, provided there is compliance with all the provisions of Section 1510(e) of the Not-for-Profit Corporation Law.
